Admissions readers see thousands of personal statements. They spot the template fast: "I am passionate about," "ever since I was young," three neat paragraphs, no name you'd remember.

AI makes that template easier to produce. It does not make you easier to admit. The fix is not hiding AI use. It is making the statement actually about you.

Why personal statements get flagged

Detectors and humans look for the same empty signals:

No specifics. Could this paragraph belong to any applicant?
Flat rhythm. Same sentence length, same transition words.

3. Add one scene per main claim

Every "I am passionate about X" needs a moment: where, when, who, what changed.

For graduate statements of purpose, tie scenes to research questions. Name a paper, a method, a professor's work you actually read (and can discuss in an interview).

For job cover letters, tie scenes to the role's requirements with numbers when you have them.

4. Fix rhythm, then run one humanizer pass
